The images on this page are of places, things and events related to Boys and Girls Homes. We began in the mid fifties as a home for boys in need. The first name was Boys Homes of North Carolina, depicted by the sign below and located on the boys portion of the campus. The conditions that caused the formation of Boys Homes were not restricted just to boys. It was not long before efforts were made to provide for the needs of girls and Boys Homes merged with a program for girls located near Asheboro. That program was called Girls Haven. The girls were moved to property located at Huntersville, NC, and Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina was born. After a few years, it was decided to consolidate the two programs of childcare onto the campus of Lake Waccamaw. |

The Boys and Girls Homes campus is a beautiful facility and the beauty of its grounds are enhanced by staff and residents alike. The Boys and Girls Homes campus has many facilities intended to support and enhance the program of care for the children. We seek to be a home for the children, not just an institution. |
