About Boys and Girls Homes Exhibition Center

Remember when summer was fun...when the grass seemed greener and the best way to escape the heat was to sit under a shade tree and let the breeze blow through your hair?

For those folks who enjoy that experience, it can be found at the Boys and Girls Homes Exhibition Center.  The large covered arena is available for a variety of events.  It is right in the middle of a large pecan grove that makes coming to the facility a real joy.  If you are showing horses, they can be safely housed in the stalls close by (also in the shade of the trees!).

It's easy to find - right on Highway 74-76 between Whiteville and Wilmington.  Get off I-95 at Lumberton or any of several exits from I-40.

Every effort has been made to make your particular event enjoyable.  Food is available at the concession stand; a covered arena provides a haven from the weather; camper hookups (water, sewer and electricity) are waiting for you as well as restrooms and showers.

There are two outdoor warm-up/practice rings for exhibitors close to the covered arena and stalls.  It is also surrounded by shade trees.  Ample parking for trailers makes moving around less hazardous.  You don't have to worry about trying to maneuver that big rig around a lot of buildings!

Just a few hundred yards from the arena is beautiful Lake Waccamaw with the other joys of summer - boating, fishing, skiing.  Less than an hour away are several beaches including Myrtle Beach, the fast-growing center of entertainment - The Alabama Theater, The Gatlin Brothers Theater, The Carolina Opry, and The Dixie Stampede.  All of this can be a part of your weekend at Lake Waccamaw.

There are several hotels available in Whiteville as well as numerous restaurants.  (Whiteville is just 15 minutes from Lake Waccamaw).  But if you really want something special, try one of the quaint bed and breakfast inns on the lake and unique seafood at a restaurant overlooking the water.  So let's see - excellent accommodations and facilities for your event, good food and comfortable lodging, plenty of room, entertainment available, and don't forget     ALL THAT BEAUTIFUL SHADE!
