The Charitable Intent |
|
Charitable giving is a phenomenon which involves a majority of U.S. taxpayers (75%) of households! In a recent year, total charitable giving from individuals was $96.6 billion, of which 65.5% went to religious organizations! Donations from individuals continue to play an important role in the operation of the diverse public/private partnership of social welfare in the U.S. (donations amount to approximately 27% of total secular nonprofit revenues, excluding government grants). The federal tax deduction for contributions can be seen as the major "political" component of charitable giving. Since 1917, the average pre-tax cost of giving has been lowered for tax return itemizes as part of the on-going public policy to stimulate voluntary contributions. The U.S. is the envy of the world with the financial support of its citizens for causes in which they believe. Whether religious, social, education, health, welfare or research, Americans have continuously supported these organizations on a voluntary basis. Including government, secular nonprofit sector revenues amounted to 13.1% of GNP in a recent year. The reasons for this support are varied and diverse. However, in its simplest form, Americans have the endearing quality of helping and supporting others when a need arises. It is basic to the Judeo-Christian ethic. To survive means to help each other. And this helping has caused the development of the phrase Charitable Intent...without it giving programs and tax strategies would be meaningless. So, if you care for Boys and Girls Homes; believe in its mission of serving at risk youth; desire to see families reunited, if possible; and wish to see the institution prosper and expand its services, then all of the ideas connected with Charitable Estate Analysis make a great deal of sense!
