North Carolina Jaycees

The Jaycee Cottage  In 1962, a Jaycee Cottage was dedicated on the Lake Waccamaw Campus of Boys Homes of North Carolina, Inc.  From the very beginning, the Jaycees of North Carolina have been strong supporters of the boys who reside in the Jaycees Cottage.  The JAYCEES of North Carolina make individual member and chapter visits with the children in the Jaycees Cottage.  They make personal and club contributions, and take part in refurbishing and replacing items for the cottage when needed.  They also enjoy visiting with the children of the cottage on occasional off campus trips.  As an answer to the challenge of insuring that the Jaycees Cottage will be available to serve children in perpetuity, the Jaycees make donations to support the daily operating costs of the cottage and are building an endowment fund whose earnings will assist in the operating costs of the cottage.  Each year the Jaycees vote on Priority Projects.  Boys and Girls Homes has been a Priority Project since the Jaycee Cottage was built in 1962.  The president of the Jaycees appoints a Boys and Girls Homes project chairman who works with the Boys and Girls Homes development staff and serves on the Board of Directors for the appointed term.

THE JAYCEE CREED
by C. William Brownfield

We Believe...
... That faith in God gives meaning
and purpose to human life;
... That the brotherhood of man transcends
the sovereignty of nations;
... That economic justice can best be won by
free men through free enterprise;
... That government should be of laws
rather than of men;
... That earth's great treasure lies
in human personality;
... And that service to humanity
is the best work of life.

Thanks Jaycees for the new van!  Pictured is the Jaycee van recently put into service for the children, helping assure their transportation needs are met.  Boys and Girls Homes appreciates the support of all Jaycees to make sure the needs of the children are met. (Oct. 8, 2007)
