Solomon Center Construction - June 28, 2001
The
Solomon Center was constructed as a facility for the care
of children needing immediate placement because there are times when it is
necessary for a child to be removed from his/her home at a moment's notice,
often in the middle of the night. When that occurs, finding immediate
emergency care and shelter for the child is a priority. The Solomon
Emergency Care Center on the Boys and Girls Homes campus was designed to meet
those needs. The center could care for up to 20 children for a period not
to exceed 90 days. During that time, care and diagnoses of needs are made
and decisions regarding further treatment and placement are implemented.
As emergency placement has been curtailed, the center is used for alternative
housing for children as needs arise.
